Marco Belinelli tuttavia è riuscito a finalizzare i suoi tiri dopo un momento di difficoltà, totalizzando 21 punti (5/9 da due, 3/5 da tre, 2/2 ai liberi) e diventando il primo italiano a segnare oltre 20 punti in post season NBA.

IMPACT VIDEO: For motivation, Hornets Coach Monty Williams had his team watch a video of the Battle at Kruger National Park, a wildlife battle for survival between wildebeests trying to protect their calves against lions.
When asked what message Williams wanted to get across to his players from viewing the video, he said ‘don’t give up.’
The video appeared to have made an impact because after two consecutive losses to the Lakers, they came out Sunday night and played aggressive much like they did to win Game 1. After giving up 50 points in the lane in Game 2 and 50 in Game 3, the Hornets outscored the Lakers 30-24 in the post during the first half. By attacking the lane, they forced both Bynum and Gasol into early foul problems. They boxed out and grabbed rebounds. They also contested most of the Lakers’ shots. Forward Lamar Odom struggled to get into rhythm after missing six of his first seven attempts.
“You can always look in guys’ faces and eyes to see if they’re still in it, and I saw that yesterday,’’ Williams said.

Gli Hornets riescono a portarsi sul 2-2 contro i Lakers davanti al pubblico di New Orleans, battendo i campioni in carica per 93 a 88.
Marco Belinelli, che ha chiuso la stagione regolare con ottime percentuali al tiro, nelle ultime due gare ha avuto difficoltà a segnare. Ciò nonostante la fiducia dei compagni, Chris Paul in testa, non è mai mancata continuando a cercarlo nei passaggi.
Qui le dichiarazioni post partita del coach Monty Williams sulla prestazione di Marco, sul suo impegno durante tutta la stagione e sul duro confronto con Ron Artest:
“Marco’s been a guy that he may not be the best at a lot of things, but he plays hard. We have had to trust him all year long. He was in here last night putting up shots close to an hour. We know the guys who put the work in; they deserve a chance to play. He’s not afraid and he’s out there fighting (Ron) Artest like a strong, small forward. It’s just trust.”
Ecco come Marco ha commentato la sua prestazione:
““We’re playing against maybe the best team in the league. Ron Artest is one of the best defensive guys in the league. I decided to first of all, make a good defense because the defense wins the game. At the same time, I try to be aggressive. I know I missed a couple of shots, but every shot was good. I just need to score. I think the next game is going to be great. I work a lot on my shot. It may be a little bit mental. I don’t want to think too much about my shot. I just have to stay positive.”

Hornets MVP: Marco Belinelli tied a single-quarter season-high for any Hornets player in 2010-11 by racking up 16 points in the opening period, sparking the visitors to a quick eight-point lead. By the end of the quarter, however, Memphis had pulled into a 30-all tie. Belinelli added just two more points to his game tally for a team-best 18 points.

Marco Belinelli dopo la vittoria per 101 a 93 con Houston Rockets e la conquista dell’accesso ai playoff, per la prima volta da quando gioca in NBA.
“Il mio obiettivo sin dall’inizio della stagione è stato giocare ai playoff perchè nei 3 anni precedenti non ci ero mai riuscito. Ci ho creduto perchè questa squadra è fantastica: i compagni, lo staff, la città… tutti si meritavano questa soddisfazione e tutti hanno dato il massimo per ottenerla. Siamo 6 giocatori** a non aver mai giocato la post season, abbiamo stimoli fortissimi”
